Welcome to September – by Kathy Seehafer

SCRIPTURES FOR THE MONTH: Exodus 34-40, I Samuel 22-28

I love the month of September. I really enjoy the beautiful sunny days and the cool nights. It feels just perfect. I look at the calendar and yes, it says September, but I feel like it can’t be. I’ve been losing time somewhere. I need to just stop, savor each day, and give God praise for all He’s done.

For some reason, ‘golden’ has been twirling around in my thoughts. It might be because the sunrises and sunsets seem just a beautiful golden color. It could be some of the flowers that I’ve seen in August that linger in my mind. So much beauty is all around us.

So, I wondered what would come up when I studied God’s Word on golden things. I wasn’t looking for golden vessels or gold as in money, but golden things as in treasures. There are many treasures in God’s Word!

So here is some ‘gold’ for you to savor:

Luke 10:27 -the golden rule- “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy soul, and strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.”

Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.”

1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Philippians 4:6-7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

John 10:28 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
